Metro 2033 will be free until March 15, 2021. So if you still don't have it, now is the time to fix the issue and grab a free copy for yourself.
The game was removed from Steam in 2014 after the Redux version was released, but now it has returned to Valve's store specifically for the event.
The game was originally released on PC in March 2010.ĭue to the anniversary of the series, the developers are having a quick sale for all Metro games - with a giveaway of the original Metro 2033. As a young man Artyom, players leave their home station to protect all the survivors from the new dangerous threat. Metro 2033 is set in the ruins of Moscow in the aftermath of a nuclear war, where survivors hide in the underground Metro tunnels. Metro is a series of video games developed by the Ukrainian company 4A Games based on the novels of writer Dmitry Glukhovsky. The event will continue throughout the whole weekend. If you don't have it and you want to game, it is time to get hardware with DX11/OGL4 support.Steam has launched a sale on the Metro series with up to 80% discounts while offering everyone to pick up the original Metro 2033 for free. Games are now coming to windows DX11 only so they are already not caring about the people with unsupported hardware. Other big studios need to see this and see that it is possible when you throw out the old OGL to try and remain compatible with older hardware. This actually gives me a lot of hope for our future. No I don't consider the stripped down version of TW2 a contender because what we got was the game basically running in DX9 mode. Before I just had to assume it was possible. Undeniable proof that Linux IS capable of supporting the amazing looking games available to windows AND running well. Is there even another game that has real Nvidia Physx? I see this as a milestone for Linux gaming. These games ARE demanding, they look amazing AND Nvidia Physx is there. The Borderlands games are great and pretty games in their own right but they are not very demanding.
Instead of looking at the "bad", look at the good. I was surprised to find out it is not a turd at all. I expected a barely polished turd that ran like crap. It is easily the most graphically demanding game available for Linux and it runs REALLY well. I get it sucks that it is missing tessellation and volumetric lighting, maybe it will come in an update? *fingers crossed* but it still looks damn good. If you don't have the resources too port it properly that's understandable, but don't sell a game, then release a "Redux" version of that same game, and still not have it equally as good as the Windows version when they said it would be. OpenGL is totally capable of doing everything the Windows version can. I'm just not buying their games anymore until I see videos and pictures of it compared. I'm pretty sure the first port had some tessellation stuff hidden in a file somewhere too, but it did nothing. There is no volumetric lighting either, It's not the same as Windows. Could we have some reliable screenshot comparison? I've been looking for some on the web but didn't find anything apart from that: and the r_dx11_tess parameter is set to 1 by default. In fact I see some parallax mapping of some sort in many textures. They said it would be exact to the Windows version. No tessellation too which has me really upset. No, It doesn't have all the settings Windows has. Quoting: omer666 Quoting: Psycroptic Quoting: DeformalAl least one game, that equals to Windows version.
Looks like you need 64bit too, so yet again it's time to upgrade if you haven't. If it was you who said it was a scam, please take this as a joke, really! We like to make light of annoying situations.īoth FPS games have been revamped, and this time Metro 2033 is available on Linux for the first time thanks to it using a newer engine.
We will update you when we have more folks.
Sarcasm aside, it happens a lot, and it's due to how many switches you need to hit on the Steam control panels or something.Ĭonsidering they are on sale right now too, it's probably legit, but the developers forgot to make the download completely public. Someone actually emailed in to ask us to notify people of this horrific scam taking place. Looks like someone either forgot a switch or two. Update: Metro 2033 Redux is now downloading.īoth Metro 2033 Redux & Metro Last Light Redux now have Linux icons on Steam, but they aren't currently downloadable.
